Project Implementation

Work needed to be done to restore the old, dilapidated building.

Work began on the first double classroom block in April 2011, with parents and members of the local community removing the roof, taking up the floor, chipping off the internal and external plastering, and demolishing the walls to just above window level.

AR's team of 3 builders, assisted at times by community members, then replaced the ringbeam above the windows and the remaining brickwork up to roof level. New iron sheets were used on the roof and a veranda was built to shelter the three entrance doors. The builders also replaced a number of the window panes and painted both inside and out. The new blackboards were painted and a notice board fixed up outside the office. The block was completed in early June 2011.
