Moonde School

Moonde community are thrilled to have received two newly built classroom blocks

Moonde 2 new blocks

In 2011, funding from The Waterloo Foundation has enabled African Revival to rehabilitate and complete two 1x2 classroom blocks at Moonde Basic School in the Kalomo District of southern Zambia. The first block (above on the left) was completed in June and the second (above on the right) in mid-August 2011.

Founded in 1956 by a local mission, Moonde Basic School lies 10km from the main tarmac road, along a bumpy, and at certain times of the year barely passable, dirt track. The school's rural location makes it an important focal point in the area, providing an education almost 1,000 local children between the ages of 7 and 14.

Moonde is one of the few schools in the area that caters for Grades 8 and 9, the top two classes at primary level. This is especially important as it allows students to take their education further than might otherwise be possible at other schools, and offers them the opportunity to progress on to secondary education afterwards. This is one factor that has made Moonde School a priority for African Revival.
