Life in Uganda

Most of the time people in Uganda wear clothes very similar to clothes worn in the UK – trousers, skirts, jumpers, shirts and dresses. It is usually only for special occasions that people will dress in traditional clothes.

The busuti dress is worn by Ugandan women at special events such as weddings.

The gomci dress is another type of dress worn at special occasions.

The kanga is a piece of rectangular, light cotton cloth which women sometimes wear wrapped over their head and shoulders.

Women in northern Uganda carry their babies on their backs using a blanket as a sling.
