History of independence:
Uganda was ruled as a British territory from 1894 until 9th October 1962 when it became an independent state.

Area: 236,040km² (just a bit smaller than the UK)

Population: 27.6 million people

Yoweri Museveni has been president since 29th January 1986.

 
Weather  


In northern Uganda it is rainy from April to October. In southern Uganda it rains from April to May and from October to November. Most of the rain comes in heavy thundery showers.

Over most of Uganda the weather is pleasant and not uncomfortably hot for much of the year. There is a lot of sunshine.

Temperatures are never really high: the average temperature is about 26°C, but can be as low as 15°C and as high as 31°C, depending on the part of the country.
