Gulu Core Primary Teachers College
Gulu Core (PTC) was opened in 2001 and offers a 2 year residential course for school leavers wishing to become teachers. The school accomodates 450 residential students despite there being only 8 Government paid tutors.
Using school funds Gulu Core PTC employs a further 8 teachers to increase the teacher to student ratio and improve the standard of training. This uses up valuable funds that cannot then be used for student resources.
Since May 2009 and with the help of Cobham Ugandan Partnership (CUP) and another anonymous donor, African Revival has been able to provide Gulu Core PTC with new beds, dining chairs, classroom tables and chairs, and has been able to repair damaged furniture that was already there. This has dramatically improved the students' learning environment ensuring that no student has to stand up during classes or meal times.
